Kassouf banned, Margets making women's history at WSOP final
Who knew William Kassouf WOULDN'T end up being the biggest story of this WSOP Main Event?
We have said it time and again: it doesn’t matter how much you plan…you’re never going to be able to plan for the biggest story of the World Series of Poker. Until seven days ago, most people would have said the WPT Gold-Inspired AllegedCollusion story would take top billing. But that was back when we didn’t see the past seven days coming, William Kassouf upending the biggest tournament of the year, and Leo Margets becoming the first woman in 20 years to make the WSOP Main Event final table.
What’s next? We’re not even going to try to guess, because the Main Event final table begins tonight, and history is on the line for the nine people below.
No matter who you like at the WSOP Main Event final table, you can’t be anything but excited for what is about to happen. Leo Margets is on the cusp of doing something no woman has ever done. John Wasnock is a recreational player (and a guy who hung out in the PokerOrg Legends Lounge!) who currently has the chip lead at the final table. Michael Mizrachisurvived near disaster to come back and make the final table after what has already been a legendary summer. Make sure you’re following the PokerOrg team’s live coverage for the latest from the Main Event final. For now, meet the final nine players of the WSOP Main Event.
It’s a good thing we all ended up with an amazing final table, because otherwise, we’d all be talking about Will Kassouf for the next 12 months. If you have been in prison or on an island with no internet for the past week, you missed poker’s most controversial Speech Play Artist getting banned from the remainder of the 2025 WSOP. The ban might have quieted the Horseshoe ballroom, but it did nothing to silence the ongoing controversy.
In any case…this has to be an early contender for Global Poker Awards Photo of the Year. Kudos to PokerOrg’s Hayley Hochstetler for an amazing piece of storytelling.
Here’s a really good question…after all the Kassouf drama, is Martin Kabrhel’s motor mouth really all that bad?
If you’d like to change your vote (or vote for the first time), we’d still like to know what you think will be the WSOP Story of the Year and why.
We have gotten pretty used to having the whole team together in Las Vegas for the summer. Wonder if we could manage some sort of big reunion when PokerStars brings the NAPT back to Las Vegas in November?
After all, PokerOrg is now officially legit in all regulated North American markets!
Good thing, too, because we just inked a third straight year as the exclusive media partner for the WSOP Circuit.
Damn…we did not expect a Daniel Negreanu “over my dead body” rant about, of all people, Ike Haxton.
Congrats to The King of Cool, Nick Schulman for his nod to the WSOP Poker Hall of Fame. We can fight for a long time about how the rules for induction need to change, but there is no question Schulman deserves the honor.
Every once in a while (especially at the end of a WSOP like this one), we could all use a little perspective on life. That is what this guy can offer us. If he can grind at the WSOP and serve charity at the same time, then we can all work on being a little better to the game and each other.
And finally, we have a new leader in the PokerOrg Fantasy Freeroll. Team Baldy’s Bandits has rallied in the last week to take over the top spot. Good luck to all of those still on contention.

Does Will Kassouf have a point? Should he be allowed to play his game?
PokerOrg had a huge crew out in Las Vegas this summer. Some of them work in front of the camera. Some never show their faces. Regardless, the team has worked in a way that has made us all very proud. There is still work to be done, but if you see someone with a PokerOrg heart on their sleeve, give them a fist bump, because they’ve earned that and a lot more.
